why “advisory house?”
advisory house design started as a consulting agency for cannabis brands on the dawn of state legalization. Having worked closely with cannabis brands in several states in the West, I took on an advisory role with my business partner to help guide cultivations on their path to retail. Navigating compliance requirements, strict city/county/state regulations, and working to normalize and destigmatize the industry, the company was named The Advisory House — an apt fit for the massive task at hand.
In 2020, I largely pivoted my focus out of the cannabis industry, and renamed the business advisory house design. I transitioned into a woman-owned creative services provider now walking alongside business owners across the US.
Still very much passionate about leaning into best practices, advising on the current digital trends and strategies, and creating high quality brand aesthetics, my focus centers on advising business owners in brand and marketing strategy for ways to forge their path to growth and sustainability in our digital landscape.
fun facts about advisory house…
When The Advisory House was first conceptualized in 2018, I was regularly visiting client projects in Palm Springs and — having always been taken by mid-century architecture — the striking lines of the homes in that iconic place served as the inspiration for the brand logo I continue to use today.
Although my business and service offerings made a major pivot, I loved the logo too much to redesign it — plus, I realized the design had begun to form a bit of brand recognition — so I maintained the basis of the logo as it evolved into advisory house design.
Aside from slenderizing the lines, the fonts and typography were the only major changes within my brand identity. I chose softer text styles that better conveyed me as a solopreneur. The sharpness of the black & white colorway along with my white brick “wall dream” have remained the same.
providing support & strategy to busy owners and founders
Owning a brand is a true labor of love and just like your home and personal style, your brand evolves just as you do. That’s part of the fun! My business has undergone numerous updates and redesigns (including a major business overhaul of service offerings and team infrastructure both pre and post pandemic) and of course, it still feels like it’s never quite done… because there’s always more to do and ways to evolve.
