DRAWING SUPPLIES
-
Linen Sketch Books
LOVE LOVE LOVE these books. Compact and easy to throw in my bag, I buy these regularly and fill them up quickly. The band keeps them from opening up and protect the pages. Work well for ink or paint or ink. Cold-press, 110lb, they come in multiple sized but the 8.5” square is the one I prefer.
And BONUS, they come in 2 packs for $23.
-
Strathmore Watercolor Paper
I love the tooth and texture of this paper for my drawing and illustration work. It is well sized, well priced and holds ink well. The paper weight is ideal for structure and framing or wrapping for art shows and booth sales. 110lb and cold press.
This pad is 12 pages for $8.
-
Deleter Dip Pens
This is a solid starter set of metal pen tips for getting started in dip pen illustration. Designed for Manga, the pen tips offer the finest of line while letting you vary line weight and ink density.
Pen barrel + 3 multi-use tips: G pen, round, and sari pens for $14 -
Black Sumi Calligraphy Ink
Blackest black and smooth, this ink is a great value for sketching or as an addition to watercolor works. It works well on sketch pads and watercolor paper. Use it with a stick or dip pens.
Permanent and cleans up with water for only $6
-
Staedtler Ink Pens
Because I draw on textured paper, I need an ink that rolls smoothly and delivers evenly on my page without snagging or bleeding. These have proven to last and are my frequent go-tos. They come in a huge range of point size; I fluctuate between fine, medium and bold pens — depending on my ink density need.
STAEDTLER Lumocolor Fine, 10pk for $19
PAINTING SUPPLIES
-
Meeden Watercolor Paper Pad
A cost-effective alternative to Arches, this is high-quality cotton watercolor paper. The 140lb cold press texture is a little too gritty for smooth ink lines, so I use it for true watercolor painting. The edges come glued but a plastic “knife” to separate the pages is included.
20 pages for $18
